As horse lovers we all share a love for horses, but let’s be honest horses are expensive, not everyone can afford a horse and not everyone can afford horse riding lessons. Only a handful of people will experience competing at an international level, but none of that should matter.
Over the years I have heard people say “my horse did this” “my horse did that” “my horse has this bloodline” Why does any of that matter? Sometimes I feel like people are in constant completion mode, when the only thing that should matter is our love for horses.
Inspiration
As horse lovers we are so privileged to be in love with a majestic animal, who have been so inspirational throughout human history. By embodying strength, grace and emotional intelligence. They have inspired people to create books, poems and movies and have served as crucial partners in building civilisation, while their presence offers therapeutic, emotional and spiritual lessons that continue to impact lives today.
They connect us to nature
We have a love for an animal that connects us to nature. Horses get us outside, whether it’s going out riding on a hack or going for a walk to find them grazing peacefully in a field.
The New Forest has to be my favourite place, there is something awe- inspiring and magical about watching a horse roam freely, it is a sight to behold and is picturesque. Horses act as a bridge between the human world and the natural world by allowing us to foster a deeper connection with nature, In the silence of nature we can find the rhythm of our souls, our hearts light up with love by purely just being in the presence of a horse.
They’re Majestic
I could spend ages just watching horses. The power of a horse combined with their striking beauty, they move with a fluid poetic grace whether walking, trotting or galloping, their mane and tail blowing in the wind. It is enough to stop anyone in their tracks.
They are seriously amazing animals and beyond the beauty they have high intelligence, incredible memory skills and the remarkable ability to help people. Their beautiful spirits have a way of capturing our imagination and our hearts.
Closing Thoughts
Sometimes I feel like the equestrian world can get a bit of a bad rap. People question the treatment of horses, the training methods used and quite rightly so, as some horses are exposed to the negativity out there. But as horse lovers we are the ones trying to stop the negativity out there, we are the ones shouting loudly and proudly “we are horse lovers”.
From looking at pictures in magazines or online to being lucky enough to pick up frozen horse poop in the winter, we love it all and most importantly we love the animal first and we are so grateful and blessed that we get to experience our lives with horses and that makes our world simply magical.
