Ok so I love all horses, it doesn’t matter to me what colour, size or breed they are, they are all equally beautiful and deserve the same thing love. That is one thing I hate about the sporting industry whether it’s racing, dressage, jumping or another form of competition if your horse does not “ fit the look” or not from the correct breeds your horse is labelled worthless. I have heard stories in the past where judges have called horses “ugly” I mean that is just heartbreaking, so snobby and rude and I won’t even get started on the other issues of the industry such as over breeding and nurse mare I will save those topics for another post. I will keep this post happy as I said I love all horses but I do have some breeds that I am just drawn too they are.
Thoroughbred’s
They say if you can ride a Thoroughbred that is your super power. But there are many things I love about them. They are super intelligent, loyal and will do anything for you. Their strength and stamina is something to be inspired by. It is heartbreaking to see them run around the track for a number of reasons
- They don’t enjoy it, their ears are back whenever you see them.
- They are too young their bones and muscles have not fully developed.
- People sadly think that is all they are good for.
Thoroughbreds and including off the track thoroughbreds make amazing horses. There is no other breed that can match their speed and to see one run freely is breathtaking and something to be awed by. The OTTB’S show a lot of courage having to start over again wondering “what does this person want from me” a lot of them learning to trust. You have to remember for a lot of them all they know is stable, trailer, track. If they get to go to a good home after their racing days they must love being able to just be a horses. So there is loads to love about a thoroughbred.

New Forest Pony
Oh this takes me back to my childhood going camping and always getting lost on the way back to the tent because I would go off to find the ponies especially if there was foals about.
There is something quite magical just watching them roam free. Let’s be honest the beautiful country side, from the beautiful colours to the flowing streams, to the new forest ponies it really does feel like a real life fairytale. So tame and trusting the ones that let you come up and stroke them. The New Forest Ponies really do turn the New Forest into a magical place.
Friesian Horse
A black beauty, amazing as a family horse, beautiful gaits but I hate seeing them when they are forced to do moves that look so unnatural and being forced to rear up all so someone can take a photo. Their natural beauty is more than enough, we don’t need to be forcing anything.Their long beautiful mane and tail, again it really is breathtaking when you watch a friesian horse being natural, wild and free. A friesian horse is super loyal, has strength and stamina and again just like a Thoroughbred would do anything for you. Friesians are described as being mischievous, loving and playful they are majestic with a very calm and friendly temperament.
